Artistic director of the Maly Theater, Yuri Solomin, infected with COVID-19, decided not to postpone the premiere of the play “Buratino”, which he directed. He is watching the rehearsals by video link, the press service of the theater told TASS.
The hospitalization of the People’s Artist of the USSR became known on Tuesday. According to the director of the Maly Theater Tamara Mikhailova, Yuri Methodievich does not suffer the disease in a severe form.
On the eve it was reported that the artist is feeling well. He is in quarantine and is awaiting a second coronavirus test on Friday or Saturday.
Yuri Solomin was accepted into the troupe of the Maly Tetra after graduating from the Shchepkin School in 1957, since 1980 he also worked there as a director, and since 1988 he has been the artistic director of the theater.
Earlier Solomin was awarded the title of Hero of Labor. Russian President Vladimir Putin presented him with a gold star on June 12 last year.
