India records record number of new coronavirus cases

India has recorded a record number of new cases of coronavirus, RIA Novosti reports, citing the country's Ministry of Health and Family Welfare.

Over the past day, more than 97.5 thousand cases of coronavirus have been recorded in India. This is the largest increase in infected people in a day since the beginning of the pandemic.

India is currently in the second position in the world in the number of detected cases of coronavirus. According to the latest data, there are more than 4.65 million people in the country infected with the coronavirus. At the same time, the number of recovered people is 77.77 percent of the total number of cases in the country.

In total, 3.62 million people have been cured of the coronavirus in India since the beginning of the pandemic, 77.4 thousand cases have died.

The number of detected cases of COVID-19 also increased in Russia the day before. According to the headquarters on September 11, 5,504 cases of coronavirus were detected in the Russian Federation per day, the total number of cases increased to 1,051,874. The Kremlin called the observed increase in the number of cases in some regions "insignificant." Press Secretary of the Russian President Dmitry Peskov said earlier that the Russian health care system "absolutely uniquely" will cope with a possible exacerbation of the situation with COVID-19.
