India and China to hold next round of border talks – media

India and China will hold another round of negotiations on the withdrawal of troops in the Ladakh border area on the line of effective control between the countries on January 12. It is reported by Indian Express.

According to the newspaper, the negotiations will be held at the Chushul-Moldo border point at the level of the commanders of the army corps of the Indian Armed Forces and the People’s Liberation Army of China. Indian defense sources said the country hopes for a constructive dialogue with China on the issue of normalizing the situation in East Ladakh.

The lack of a demarcated border between India and China in the Himalayas has been a source of tension for decades. The long negotiation process of the military of the two countries should lead to a de-escalation in Ladakh, where the confrontation between the armies of the two countries began in the spring of 2020. At the end of 2020, the parties agreed to normalize the situation at the border. In February 2021, both states began to withdraw troops from the disputed areas, this process has not yet been completed.
