The post of deputy chairman of the Moscow City Duma may be occupied by a well-known Russian journalist, independent deputy Andrei Medvedev, reports AGN Moskva, citing a source in the capital’s parliament.
The politician is expected to be elected to this position during the meeting on Wednesday, November 3. The day before, Medvedev’s candidacy was supported by members of the United Russia faction in the Moscow City Duma.
Andrei Medvedev will replace Nikolai Gubenko, who passed away at the age of 78 last August.
Medvedev is the editor-in-chief of the united edition of the ESMI VGTRK, which includes Radio Rossii, Mayak, Vesti FM, Radio Kultura. He was elected a deputy of the Moscow City Duma of the seventh convocation in September 2019; he participated in the elections as a self-nominated candidate.
