In Switzerland, five people have died after being vaccinated against coronavirus, but their deaths are not vaccine-related and due to concomitant diseases, said Swiss pharmaceutical regulator Swissmedic.
It is noted that the dead are between 83 and 92 years old. Despite the chronological correlation with vaccinations, there is no concrete evidence linking vaccinations to human deaths, the regulator said in a statement.
We will remind, vaccination of the population against coronavirus in Switzerland began in December. To date, the country has approved two emergency drugs: Pfizer-BioNTech and Moderna.
Swissmedic has received 42 reports of suspected vaccine-related drug reactions to date. 62% of these were not serious and included mild reactions already known from clinical trials. 38% were classified as serious. Five reports are fatal.
According to the latest data, almost 170 thousand people have been vaccinated against coronavirus in Switzerland.
