Romanian law enforcement agencies have suppressed the activities of an organized criminal group engaged in the production of counterfeit euro banknotes. This was reported by TASS with reference to the European Police Agency (Europol).
The material said that searches were carried out in 28 houses, during which counterfeit banknotes worth € 450,000 were seized. 10 suspects were detained.
It is noted that the group, which existed for at least three years, counterfeited banknotes in denominations of € 50, € 100 and € 500. Counterfeit money was later found in various countries of the European Union.
Earlier in Moscow, law enforcement officers liquidated a group that was engaged in the production and sale of alcohol counterfeit. Over 30 thousand bottles of alcohol and 5 thousand liters of ethyl alcohol with a total value of 8.5 million rubles were seized at the underground enterprise.
