The final results of the elections to the parliament of Montenegro, held on August 30, confirmed the victory of the opposition, RIA Novosti reports.
The Electoral Commission of Montenegro has published the final results of the vote. According to them, the ruling Democratic Party of Socialists (DPS) received 30 mandates out of 81, and the largest opposition coalition "For the Future of Montenegro" - 27.
The third place was taken by the opposition coalition "Peace is Our Nation" around the "Democrats" party (10 seats). In fourth place is the coalition "Black and White" of the opposition movement URA (four mandates).
It is also noted that three mandates were received by the coalition partners of the ruling DPS - Social Democrats, two parliamentary seats - by the Social Democratic Party.
The remaining five mandates were shared by the parties of the Boshniak and Albanian national minorities.
Thus, for the first time in more than 30 years, the opposition received more votes than the ruling DPS of President Milo Djukanovic.
Note that 11 parties and coalitions participated in the voting, which had to overcome the 3% barrier to get into parliament. Parliament is elected for four years.
Earlier, the ruling party of Montenegro admitted defeat in the parliamentary elections.
