In Kazakhstan canceled the departure of a number of trains in connection with the protests

In Kazakhstan, the departure of several passenger trains has been canceled in connection with an emergency in three regions of the country due to protests. TASS writes about this with reference to the press service of the Kazakhstan Railways company.

The message specifies that on Wednesday traffic was closed at the Makat stations in the Atyrau region and Zhem in the Aktobe region.

On the night of January 4-5, passengers of 14 trains were not delivered to their destination. Travelers temporarily located at the hub stations are provided with food and water.

“The return of travel documents is carried out with payment of the full cost,” the press service told reporters.

The movement of 46 freight trains was also suspended in Kazakhstan on Wednesday morning.

The railway company recommended that citizens refrain from traveling for a while.

As a reminder, on January 2, rallies began in a number of cities in the Mangistau region. Residents are demanding lower fuel prices, which, according to them, have doubled since January 1. The President of Kazakhstan, Kassym-Zhomart Tokayev, introduced a state of emergency in the region and a curfew until January 19.

Earlier on Wednesday, it became known that the protesters broke into the administration of Almaty.

It was also reported that 190 people turned to medical institutions of the city after the rallies. 40 victims were hospitalized, seven are in intensive care, among them four are police officers.
