At the World Ski Championships in Germany, in honor of the victory of the Russians, the full version of the anthem of the International Ski Federation (FIS) will be played, and not the song “Katyusha”, as previously assumed. TASS was informed about this by the organization.
Due to the sanctions of the World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA), Russian athletes will fight for victory under the flag of the Russian Olympic Committee (ROC) in the status of the Russian Ski Federation (RSF) team, without the flag and anthem of their country. As a musical accompaniment, it was previously proposed to perform the song “Katyusha”, which in the minds of people around the world is associated with Russia. However, in the end, a different decision was made.
Earlier it was also reported that at the World Figure Skating Championships in Stockholm, Tchaikovsky’s music may be performed along with the Russian anthem. The World Figure Skating Championships will take place in Sweden on March 22-28.
