In Germany, the number of confirmed cases of coronavirus infection increased by 12 thousand per day.
According to RIA Novosti, citing data from the Robert Koch Institute, 349 patients diagnosed with COVID-19 have died from the disease in the last 24 hours.
Since the beginning of the pandemic, 2,134,936 cases of the disease have been registered in the country, 51,870 people have died.
Earlier, German Chancellor Angela Merkel announced the extension of strict quarantine restrictions in the country until February 14. According to her, the measures to combat the coronavirus previously introduced in the Federal Republic of Germany turned out to be effective, since at the moment a decrease in the number of new infected people is recorded in the state.
At the same time, the Chancellor noted that the coming winter weeks will be difficult for the country due to the danger of the spread of a mutated virus, which, according to experts, is more infectious than its previous version.
