Bavarian Prime Minister Zeder said about the extreme importance of the Russian gas pipeline “Nord Stream-2” for Germany, reports RIA Novosti.
“We need gas power plants. SP-2 would be a reliable basis for a stable supply of gas to the country, ”the agency quotes Zeder as saying.
The politician explained that the German side is refusing from coal and nuclear energy. In this connection, according to him, in Germany the prices for electricity are increasing, and there is also a shortage of resources.
Zeder stressed that it is unacceptable “to indifferently watch the rise in prices on the eve of a cold winter.” He expressed the opinion that the launch of SP-2 will help bring gas prices back to normal.
The Nord Stream 2 project envisages the laying of two strings of a gas pipeline from the coast of the Russian Federation through the Baltic Sea to Germany. Construction is in the final stages. The United States, Poland and Ukraine are actively opposed to the emergence of the pipeline.
Gas supplies via Nord Stream 2 should begin before the end of this year. The first string of the pipeline is already filled with technical gas.
