The governor of the Egyptian province of Qalyubia, Abdulhamid Khadjan, fired the director of the department of improvement of the city of Kafr Shukr after the scandal, according to el-Watan.
According to the newspaper, the official named several streets after her husband, his brothers and father-in-law.
This became known after receiving numerous complaints from residents about the unusual names of the streets in the new master plan of the city.
Khadjan said that at the moment the official’s case has been transferred to the administrative prosecutor’s office. In his opinion, these actions are a gross violation of the law, since the decision on assigning names to the streets is made by the local people’s council or a special committee.
The official herself, who is designated in the publication as Mona M., denies all charges and says that one of the residents of the city is taking revenge on her, who decided to become famous in this way.
Recall that earlier in Egypt, during excavations, the burial temple of Queen Naraat was discovered.
