At the emergency G20 summit on the situation in Afghanistan, Russia will be represented by the country’s Deputy Foreign Minister Igor Morgulov. TASS writes about this, citing a diplomatic source.
As it became known earlier, the G20 meeting will be held on October 12 in the format of a videoconference at the initiative of Italy. Rome insists that Russia, China and Turkey should also take part in the summit.
The parties intend to discuss the issue of providing humanitarian assistance to Afghanistan, as well as to understand what steps need to be taken to prevent the republic from becoming a center of international terrorism.
In the meantime, the Russian Foreign Ministry announced the next meeting of the Moscow format on Afghanistan, which involves consultations of the special representatives of Russia, Afghanistan, China, Pakistan, Iran and India.
