Experts predict that in 2021, Russians will face another surge in food prices. First of all, alcohol will rise in price from the New Year, since from January 1, 2021, excise taxes will increase in Russia – by an average of 4-5%. In addition, the minimum retail price for vodka, cognac, champagne, wine, whiskey and other drinks will increase.
How much will the minimum retail alcohol prices rise?
The minimum retail prices for alcohol, in effect from January 1, 2021, are established by order of the Ministry of Finance of the Russian Federation of October 7, 2020 No. 235n “On setting prices at least which purchases (excluding imports), supplies (excluding exports) and retail sale of alcohol products with a strength of over 28 percent ”.
It follows from the document that the minimum price for vodka in 2021 will grow by 5.7%: from 230 to 243 rubles per 0.5 liter bottle. Cognac in a similar container will rise in price by 3%: from 433 to 446 rubles.
The growth of the minimum retail price for brandy and other alcohol produced from wine, grape, fruit, cognac, calvados and whiskey distillates will amount to 2.8% per 0.5 liter (324 instead of 315 rubles). The minimum cost of a bottle of sparkling wine with a volume of 0.75 liters. will increase to 169 rubles (now 164 rubles), thus, the growth will be 3%.
The order of the Ministry of Finance on the establishment of retail prices for alcohol with a strength of over 28% will be valid until December 31, 2026 inclusive.
