There are about two thousand varieties of plums, so you can always choose fruits to your taste and color: from sugary-sweet to sour and from bright yellow to purple. Throughout August and early September, we enjoy the harvest of these juicy fruits.
But even with a strong desire to eat the entire harvest of plums in season, it will not work, but in winter you sometimes want to remember the taste and smell of summer. And what fruits are best for this? Of course, canned plums according to a proven recipe. Therefore, today we will tell you how to pickle plums for the winter so that this appetizer is eaten with appetite and pleasure.
Pickled plums for the winter
Plums are a very popular product; there are many interesting recipes with these fruits. But among all the abundance of cooking methods, it is worth carefully selecting the best so that the jars of plums do not gather dust in the cellar on the far shelf.
Today we offer a recipe that deserves to come first when it comes to pickled and pitted plums. The ingredients are indicated per 1 liter can.
- hard plums (the amount depends on the variety, the plums must fill the jar tightly)
- 70 g sugar
- 40 g 9% vinegar
- 5 allspice peas
- 5 inflorescences of a fragrant carnation
- 0.5 cinnamon sticks
- 1-2 bay leaves
Place the washed plums up the neck in a liter jar. Pour water to the brim – this volume is equal to the volume of the future marinade.
Pour water from a jar into a saucepan, add vinegar and sugar. Let the marinade simmer for a couple of minutes.
Place cinnamon, pepper, cloves and bay leaves in a jar of plums. Pour the marinade over the contents, sterilize the jars for 7 minutes and roll up the lids.
Turn the rolled up jars upside down and let them cool. After 2-3 weeks, pickled plums can be eaten. Enjoy your meal!
Pickled plum with a stone will turn out to be quite dense – it will not creep in a shapeless mass in the jar, but will crunch in your mouth.
