Who wants to spend an hour on a manicure, and the next day find that the varnish is already peeling off? So we think no one. Therefore, we have collected tips for keeping nail polish longer. It will be about self-staining nails at home, and not about how to wear shellac or gel polish from the salon for longer.
How to paint correctly, independently nails
Degrease your nails
Degrease your nails before applying the nail polish. There are special formulations for this. If you don’t want to shell out for them, just wash your hands well with soap and dry them thoroughly. And do not touch your nails with your fingers to check if they are well degreased – this way the whole effect will disappear.
The base coat evens out the surface of the nail, which allows the varnish to last longer. A nice bonus – if you use a base, your nails will not turn yellow from varnish. Relevant for those who do not always paint their nails.
Paint over the tip of the nail
When applying varnish, not only bring the brush to the end of the nail, but also slide it along the cut. In professional jargon, this is called “sealing” the tip of the nail.
Apply the varnish in two layers and let each dry well
Take a break of 10 minutes between coats. By the way, this also applies to the base coat.
Use top coat
Top coat for varnish is designed specifically to extend the life of a manicure. This should not be neglected.
How to dry your nails so that the polish lasts longer
Just let your nails dry on their own. Do not use a hair dryer! The hot air flow from the hair dryer will destroy the structure of the varnish, and it will begin to peel off very quickly.
If you have the “cold air” option, you can dry it with a hairdryer, but you should still do it only in extreme cases. The varnish will last the longest if you let it dry itself.
How to take care of your manicure so that the polish lasts longer
A day or two after the manicure, you can once again walk on it with a top coating. It has already erased a little, so it will not be superfluous to update it.
The main reason the varnish peels off is water and detergents, so use gloves when washing dishes and cleaning.
When you shower or bathe, lubricate your feet with oil first. It will wash off for the most part, but still the grease film will last for a while and help prolong the life of the manicure.
