Shell making process
Cut a rectangular hole for the sink in the center of a whole large-format tile that matches the size of the desired countertop.
The tile is turned over and a 45 degree burr is made on the cut edges. It is important to avoid chipping the face glaze. Such milling is most conveniently performed with a turtle-type disc.
The tiles are now installed face up, with the edges on 2 tables or trestles. You need to stick 3 side walls of the sink on it. They are cut from tiles. A burr is also made on the sidewalls. Then we glue the strips of scotch tape, and apply the glue to the burr.
It is necessary to glue the tiles from the sides and to the far wall. Parts are leveled at right angles, and fixed together with tape until the glue hardens.
After the glue has set, the table top is turned over, and the bottom is glued to 3 walls. No burr is needed for it. You only need to sand off the glaze around the edges a little to improve adhesion.
We are waiting for drying, and again turn the countertop with the sink over. Now you need to make the front slanting wall. A burr is made on the prepared tile along the longitudinal sides. On one side at an acute angle, and on the other, standard at 45 degrees. The part is glued in and temporarily stuck with tape.
The last visible element will be the manufacture of a false door to hide the siphon. For this, a small tile is cut out slightly wider than the bottom, on one longitudinal side of which a burr is made. On the reverse side, several layers of thin scraps are glued onto it.
The assembled shell needs to be strengthened by coating the corners with glue, and installing stiffeners from thin scraps.
A hole is drilled in its bottom for a siphon, and at the top for a mixer. If required, you can also glue a narrow strip of tiles to the front of the countertop. It is just convenient to attach stiffeners to it.
Such a sink is installed on a frame made of wood, metal profile, or a support made of brick, aerated block. The siphon is closed with a cover plate. It turns out exclusive plumbing, which you definitely cannot buy in a store.
