How to learn to read your interlocutor's eyes

You have probably seen many films and TV series about how mentalists read thoughts and emotions, just by looking at a person and noticing his facial expressions and gestures.

Someone is given this skill from birth, and someone – only with experience.

If you think that it is difficult to read people, we will dispel your doubts and try to teach indicators that will allow you to “see” your interlocutor.

  • The person tries not to look into your eyes. Probably, the topic of your conversation is tired of your interlocutor, and he wants to finish it as soon as possible. Either change the subject or end the conversation. Anything, but support in a conversation with such a person, you are unlikely to wait.
  • Direct look. If the other person looks you straight in the eye, then most likely he has nothing to hide from you. He is in the mood for conversation and focused on you. In case you need to ask for a service, now is the time to do it. Such a person is prone to serious conversation and is clearly interested.
  • A quick glance. If the look of your interlocutor is a little restless and his eyes are darting from side to side, then something is wrong. Perhaps you gave him disturbing information, or he is simply afraid to tell you something. In any case, at the moment he is unlikely to listen to you carefully, so do not rely on any help or attention.
  • Look down. If your interlocutor constantly looks just down or at his hands, then he is feeling ashamed. If you notice a sudden change in mood, then most likely you have expressed something for which he is ashamed or uncomfortable because of something.

Or they brought up an awkward topic of conversation. If you initially noticed this behavior, expect unpleasant news from the interlocutor, which may upset you. In addition, reading people means helping yourself to respond correctly and perceive their words.

  • Look up. If your interlocutor looks above your head or eye level, he feels superior over you. There are two options: either he is proud of something, telling you any news, or he just feels more confident and better than you.
  • The gaze is directed to the right. With this position of the eyes, the interlocutor tries to remember some information, it does not matter on the topic of your conversation or not. Most likely, he hardly listens to you and is completely focused on his thoughts.
  • The gaze is directed to the left. This view means analyzing the information received. Perhaps the interlocutor is trying to visualize what he heard and come up with some kind of solution. Or the person is seriously thinking about what to answer you.
  • A person’s pupils run. If you notice that the eyes of the interlocutor seem to be jumping up and down, then you are being told false information.

To immediately understand if your interlocutor is lying, ask him a couple of clarifying questions. Throwing pupils means that a person cannot concentrate on one thought and tries to remember, come up with some kind of story or answer.

Why is learning to read people so useful?

The fact is that the better you can evaluate those around you, the more the right people will be around you. In personal life, this will help weed out deceitful people, and in business, it will help to build business relationships correctly. And, in fact, it is not as difficult as it seems at first glance.

It’s just that, of course, practice and experience are needed here. After some time, analyzing emotions, facial expressions and gestures, you will intuitively feel false or, conversely, pure thoughts and a good attitude towards you.
