To prevent the wood from absorbing moisture, it is extremely important to paint or treat it with a special impregnation. The second tool allows you to reveal the natural texture of wood, giving it a more noble shade. If you need just such an effect, then prepare an impregnating oil according to this recipe.
Components and proportions:
- rosin – 5%;
- linseed / sunflower oil – 35-40%;
- beeswax – 25-30%;
- turpentine – 20-30%.
Oil preparation process
It is necessary to grind rosin and beeswax.
The components are poured into a container and melted in a water bath.
It is important to stir them and make sure that the bottom of the second container does not touch the bottom of the first one, as everything will burn.
Oil is poured into the molten components.
It can be unrefined flaxseed, or refined sunflowerseed. When cooled, the wax will turn into flakes, but after a couple of minutes of heating, it will melt again.
When the wax melts in the oil, turpentine is poured in and mixed.
The container must be covered, as it will begin to exude a pungent odor. After a minute, the composition is removed from the water bath and cooled.
Such impregnation is applied with a rag or bandage. The composition in linseed oil remains liquid, and thickens in sunflower oil.
Moreover, after processing them, the surface looks the same.
Homemade oil gives a light sheen due to the rosin.
It can be applied to clean wood or over stains.
