Honda will stop delivering cars to Russia from 2022

The Russian “daughter” of Honda – “Honda Motor Rus” in 2022 will gradually stop delivering new cars to the Russian Federation, representatives of the company report. According to them, the decision was made in accordance with the development strategy of this sector of the corporation’s business. The program is aimed at restructuring operations amid changes in the global automotive industry.

Honda will continue to sell in Russia only motorcycle and power equipment, and will also continue to provide after-sales service for the “iron horses”. In 2016, the Japanese switched to a special algorithm of activity – dealers began to carry out direct orders for cars from Japan. According to the Association of European Businesses (AEB), in November 2020, Honda was able to sell only 79 of its cars in Russia. The indicator turned out to be 50% lower for the same period of 2019 (157 units), transfers RBC with reference to the document.

In the fall of 2020, residents of the largest Russian cities preferred to buy domestic Lada cars, German Volkswagen and Korean Hyundai.

So, in Moscow, most of all were bought cars Volkswagen Polo and Volkswagen Tiguan, Kia Rio and Hyundai Creta. Residents of St. Petersburg most often opted for Hyundai Creta and Lada Vesta. The same Lada Vesta and Lada 2121 were popular among the residents of Yekaterinburg.

Earlier reported that Ford Focus became the most popular used car among Russians in eight months of 2020. He managed to bypass Lada 2114 (Samara hatchback) and become the sole leader of the aftermarket. The domestic car model does not make it to the top three of the most bought used cars for the second month in a row.
