“Russia needs to get off the oil needle,” independent experts have been calling for a year, warning that the economy’s dependence on hydrocarbon exports will not end well. Officials do not hear, but it seems that there are those who can rid the country of its addiction.
July marked the 10th anniversary of Rosgeologia – a unified production structure created on the basis of state geological enterprises. It started in 2011 as an open joint-stock company with 100% state participation, then became a state corporation. The main task is the exploration of mineral resources, the search for new deposits.
At the jubilee, victorious reports were heard about how the enterprises of Rosgeologia discovered more than 1000 deposits, including the largest deposits of hydrocarbons, gold and metals. A huge contribution to the treasury of the country’s wealth!
However, experts only grinned, knowing that all this was explored by the structures of the USSR Ministry of Geology long before the creation of Rosgeologia. But over the past 30 years, including the decade of shock work of Rosgeologia, not a single large mineral deposit has been discovered in Russia.
The Accounts Chamber said that the rate of depletion of natural resources in the Russian Federation has tripled since 2018. In the first six months of 2021, only six new oil fields were found, five of which are described as “very shallow”, and one is simply “shallow”.
According to the report of the Ministry of Natural Resources, the total stock of new oil fields is equal to 5 million tons of raw materials – this amount is pumped out from the depths of the country in about three days. Even less has been done in the area of natural gas production. The fields discovered in 2021 will yield only 15.9 billion cubic meters of blue fuel, while now it produces about 337 billion cubic meters per year.
In other words, “the storehouses of the homeland are becoming scarce, and this is not happening without the participation of Rosgeologia. The audit of the Accounts Chamber showed that the department “as of January 1, 2021, did not complete work on 45 contracts worth 4.138 billion rubles, or 27.7 percent of the stipulated volume”. And the moment of the economy getting off the oil needle is getting closer, but not into a bright industrial future, but into the darkness of a hopeless crisis.
Experts draw attention to a certain oddity. In ten years, the state corporation has changed its leaders four times, the current Sergey Gorkov is the fifth. None of them had a geological education, but at least three of them are related to the special services.
And about. CEO Andrei Tretyakov started a drunken brawl on the plane, beating up the flight attendant, as many media outlets wrote about. The deputy general director Ruslan Gorring, who eventually turned out to be Ruslan Ganizhev, who was hiding from the police because of charges of bribery, became even more famous for his public revelations and scandal on the Internet.
Decent company! “Cadres decide everything,” said the classic. Perhaps, for squandering “storerooms” it is worth asking those who pushed these “cadres” into the management of a strategic enterprise?
