Winter holidays in metropolitan schools for students from grades 1 to 11 were made a week longer – until January 17, 2021. Moscow Mayor Sergei Sobyanin announced this on his website.
Also, the holidays are extended in city colleges, sports schools and institutions of additional education. In addition, non-governmental agencies are encouraged to do the same.
Distance learning will not be available during long vacations.
It is noted that an additional week of break in the educational sphere will help stabilize the incidence of coronavirus at a lower level than at present. This will allow not to introduce new restrictive measures in January, emphasized Sobyanin.
According to the mayor, the extended autumn holidays played a significant role in curbing the spread of coronavirus infection. At the same time, in December the situation in the capital worsened: the number of hospitalizations has been increasing over the past three weeks and sometimes comes close to two thousand people a day.
Recall that the vaccination campaign against COVID-19 continues in Moscow. Registration for vaccinations for citizens over 60 years old has opened since December 28. The number of people who can get protection from the coronavirus is increasing in Moscow every week.
