“At the same time, the ministry notes the list of countries with which the relevant consultations were held. Ukraine is not among these countries. It is very sad. Ukraine is one of the main gas transit countries to the European Union, ”said the head of NJSC Naftogaz of Ukraine.
He added that the certification of the SP-2 operator poses a critical security threat to the supply of gas to Germany and other EU countries. Vitrenko stressed that after the launch of the gas pipeline, Russia may stop physical transit through Ukraine.
“And then Germany and other EU countries will critically depend on gas supplies through Nord Stream 2. Unlike the Ukrainian GTS, SP-2 has no reserve capacities and no storage facilities. And also the risks associated with militarization and the corresponding increase in tension in the Baltic Sea, ”Vitrenko concluded.
