UN Secretary General Antonio Guterres said he condemned the use of force against protesters in Myanmar.
“I condemn the use of lethal violence in Myanmar,” he wrote on Twitter, and noted that the use of deadly fire, threats and violence against peaceful demonstrators is unacceptable.
In addition, Guterres called on the parties to respect the election results.
Recall that on February 1, the leader of Myanmar, Vin Myin, and members of the ruling party were detained. They were charged. The military declared a state of emergency for one year and announced the creation of a new authority.
There are protests in the country. Their participants demand the release of the leaders of the state. The day before, during the dispersal of a peaceful protest, two people were killed and six more were injured. According to media reports, the police and the military used live and rubber cartridges.
