Gryzlov: meeting of the contact group on Donbass ended in vain

The meeting of the contact group on the settlement of the conflict in Donbass ended in vain, said the plenipotentiary of the Russian Federation Boris Gryzlov.

According to him, Kiev again tried to distort the measures to ensure the ceasefire, RIA Novosti reports.

Gryzlov noted that today’s meeting was initiated by Kiev. The participants hoped that as a result, concrete steps would be proposed for the implementation of additional measures, but the four-hour conversation ended in vain. Instead, the representatives of Kiev made attempts to “once again emasculate and distort these measures.” “Constructive, concrete proposals of Donbass on using the mechanism for verifying violations were blocked without any argumentation,” said the Russian envoy to the contact group.

He added that it remains to be hoped that the Armed Forces of Ukraine will carry out the orders declared in a statement published on the website of the Ministry of Defense of the country.

Earlier in the Donbass, additional measures to ensure a ceasefire came into force, implying a complete ban on firing, placing weapons in and near settlements, offensive and reconnaissance and sabotage actions. In addition, the engineering equipment of positions and the use of drones by the parties to the conflict near the contact line are prohibited. For violation of the ceasefire, disciplinary liability is provided.
