Grushko will represent the Foreign Ministry at the meeting of the Russia-NATO Council

Deputy Foreign Minister of the Russian Federation Alexander Grushko will represent the Russian diplomatic service at the meeting of the Russia-NATO Council on January 12. TASS reports.

According to Grushko, the Russian delegation included representatives of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the military.

“I will be in charge of the Foreign Ministry,” he said.

The Foreign Ministry spokesman said that the North Atlantic Alliance is trying to raise tensions around the conflict in Ukraine. He explained that this is evidenced by NATO’s intention to hold an emergency video conference of foreign ministers on the eve of the meeting of the Russia-NATO Council. According to Grushko, this decision is a signal for the Russian side.

“These are some signals that NATO is sending to us that they are concerned about the alleged concentration of Russian forces,” he said.

Grushko believes that these actions of the military-political bloc are a continuation of its line aimed at increasing tensions around the internal Ukrainian crisis and positioning the Russian Federation as a party to the conflict.

Earlier, the High Representative of the European Union for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy Josep Borrell said that he would not discuss the topic of Nord Stream 2 during his upcoming visit to Kiev.
