GOP leadership won’t ask Trump for a new term

The leadership of the US Republican Party does not plan to ask ex-President Donald Trump to participate in the presidential elections in 2024, the Associated Press writes, citing the head of the National Committee of the party Ronna McDaniel.

“The party must remain neutral. I will not call on anyone to participate or not to participate in the 2024 elections. The choice is only for the candidates, ”she said.

McDaniel added that the party will not abandon Trump’s actions aimed at returning Republicans to a majority in the House and Senate.

Earlier, the American media reported on Trump’s intention, whose presidential term ended on January 20, to create a kind of political association called the Patriotic Party. However, Trump later abandoned this idea. His entourage reported that the former American leader “made it clear that his goal is to return the Senate and House of Representatives to the Republicans in 2022.”
