Ghebreyesus was the only candidate for the post of head of WHO

The current director general of the World Health Organization, Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus, was the only candidate for this post. This was reported by RIA Novosti with reference to the press service of the organization.

The election of a new Director General is due in May 2022, and his appointment will take place during the 75th World Health Assembly. The name of Ghebreyesus was proposed for this position by 28 member countries of the organization. Among them are Austria, Denmark, France, Germany, Croatia, Kazakhstan, Oman, Rwanda and others.

Earlier, the head of WHO issued a statement that humanity can overcome the coronavirus pandemic. He believes that every country in the world should vaccinate 40% of the population by the end of 2021.
