The Nord Stream 2 project does not comply with European legal standards, and therefore its certification was suspended, German Foreign Minister Annalena Burbock said during her press conference with her Ukrainian counterpart Dmitry Kuleba. The event was broadcast on Facebook.
In turn, the Russian Foreign Ministry expressed the hope that the certification process would not be artificially delayed. For its part, Moscow will comply with all certification standards, the Foreign Ministry clarified, RIA Novosti writes.
The Russian Foreign Ministry indicated that the launch of the project will be a significant contribution to ensuring the energy security of the entire European Union.
It should be noted that during the meeting in Kiev, Burbock announced her readiness for a serious dialogue with Russia. She called diplomacy the only way to defuse a very tense situation. Earlier, Burbock said that Germany wants stable relations with Russia. Both countries have a long list of topics to discuss, she said.
