The Minister for European Affairs at the German Foreign Ministry, Michael Roth, reported that the European Union needs to conduct a dialogue with Russia, and not strive to shut itself off from it, despite the differences.
The politician wrote about this in an article for Spiegel.
According to Michael Roth, the EU is strategically interested in developing a dialogue with Russia. After all, many international conflicts, for example, in Belarus, Ukraine, Syria, Libya, can be resolved with the participation of Russia. This also touches upon large-scale problems, in particular climate change or the fight against coronavirus.
According to the politician, the dialogue with Moscow should be flawless. In relations with the Russian Federation, Europe should act as a “cohesive and peremptory front”.
Let us remind you that last week the European Parliament adopted a resolution following the arrest of politician Alexei Navalny in Russia. The EU is required to “prevent the implementation of Nord Stream 2 and strengthen restrictive measures against Moscow.
