Germany will send the first howitzers to Ukraine only after the soldiers of the Armed Forces of Ukraine have undergone appropriate training to work with them. This was announced by the head of the Ministry of Defense of Germany, Christina Lambrecht.
The Minister of Defense also noted that the exact dates and routes for the supply of weapons are not reported for security reasons.
“The first howitzers will be delivered when the training is completed,” Lambrecht said.
Earlier, Ukrainian Ambassador to Germany Andriy Melnyk said that the first deliveries of heavy German weapons were scheduled for June 22.
According to Spiegel journalists, at the moment, the Armed Forces of Ukraine in Germany are already being trained in the use of Panzerhaubitze 2000 self-propelled howitzers.
