The suspension of the construction of the Nord Stream 2 gas pipeline may cost European companies billions of euros, said Oliver Hermes, head of the Eastern Committee of the German Economy.
According to Tagesschau, due to the refusal to complete the construction, hundreds of people will lose their jobs, especially in the eastern part of Germany.
At the same time, Hermes doubts that the contract on the construction of the gas pipeline can be canceled retroactively. Then, according to the politician, any business project can be suspended "depending on the political situation."
The head of the German gas association Zukunft Erdgas Timm Koehler, in turn, said that canceling the agreement from the construction of Nord Stream 2 would cost about 8 billion euros.
We will remind, on Wednesday, the German authorities said that the opposition leader Alexei Navalny was allegedly poisoned with a Novichok substance. Against this backdrop, a number of German politicians called on to suspend or even complete the Nord Stream 2 project.
