General of the US Armed Forces: NATO stockpiles of weapons began to deplete due to supplies to Ukraine

NATO’s stockpiles of weapons for the Ukrainian army have practically dried up, said US General Mark Kimmitt.

He is confident that the presence of 105-millimeter howitzers and smaller-caliber artillery ammunition in one of the military aid shipments indicates problems with the stocks of advanced weapons in the Alliance.

“The latest systems are outdated and less advanced than those delivered to date. This may indicate that the rate of consumption on the battlefield has exceeded production to the extent that the excess stocks provided to Ukraine are nearly depleted. If this is the case, then NATO will have to deal with dwindling stocks of advanced weapon systems,” the general said.

He also believes that now Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky should think about resuming peace talks with Russia.
