Aviation Major General Leonid Ivlev suggested that the explosions at the military airfield in Novofedorovka in Crimea could have occurred as a result of sabotage.

But he also admitted the possibility of spontaneous combustion, writes Ukraina.ru.

On August 9, in the afternoon in Novofedrovka, several powerful claps thundered from the side of the military airfield. The Russian Defense Ministry said that the cause was the detonation of several aviation munitions at the airfield.

Ivlev noted that while it is possible to talk about the fact of explosions at a military airfield, but there is no exact information about what caused them. He is sure that this is not a missile attack, since from Nikolaev and Odessa to Novofedorovka there are about 400-500 km.

“Not a single Ukrainian missile will reach,” Ivlev said confidently.

He admitted the possibility of sabotage, as had happened earlier in Sevastopol on the day of the Navy. Ivlev added that law enforcement agencies would look into the situation, but expressed confidence that these were not arrivals.

According to him, it is hot in Crimea, so the possibility of a fire should not be ruled out due to non-compliance with security measures. For example, someone could throw a cigarette butt right into the grass, the military suggests.
