From 19 to 23 October, the French delegation will carry out an observation flight over the territory of Russia in the C-130N aircraft within the framework of the Open Skies Treaty, the Krasnaya Zvezda newspaper reports.
As the head of the National Center for the Reduction of Nuclear Hazard Sergei Ryzhkov told the publication, the flight will be performed along the agreed route. Russian specialists will be present on board the C-130N, they will monitor compliance with the agreed flight parameters and the use of observation equipment provided by the Don.
Ryzhkov noted that the C-130N belongs to the class of aircraft not intended for the use of any weapons. The use of technical means not provided for by the contract is excluded.
Recall that in August, the Russian Federation conducted an observation flight over Finland, and in September - over the territory of the Czech Republic.
According to Sergei Ryzhkov, observation flights within the framework of the OST are carried out in order to promote greater openness and transparency in the military activities of the participating countries, as well as to strengthen security through strengthening confidence-building measures.
