The Russian Foreign Ministry said that at present it is too early to talk about a specific time frame for opening the borders of Europe for Russians. RIA Novosti reports.
It is noted that the threat of coronavirus infection has not yet been overcome. The ministry stressed that in order to maintain the positive trends that have emerged recently, it is necessary to maintain caution and vigilance.
"The decision to resume regular passenger flights should be carefully worked out and taken taking into account the current epidemiological situation both in our country and in the world as a whole," the ministry said.
Earlier, Europe again refused to open borders to Russian citizens amid the coronavirus pandemic. At a meeting of the committee of permanent representatives of the EU, it was decided to leave unchanged the list of states with which the countries of the community are allowed to open external borders - Russia was not included in it.
The EU Council previously agreed on the lists of countries whose citizens can enter the territory of the union. The list is expected to be revised again. The selection criteria will be the epidemiological situation in the country, measures to contain the epidemic, and "economic and social considerations."
