First Formula 1 driver contracted coronavirus

Mexican Formula 1 racing driver Sergio Perez will not compete in the British Grand Prix due to a positive test for coronavirus infection. This was reported by press service F-1.

The pilot missed Thursday's press conference due to a questionable test result. He isolated and passed a new test that confirmed the infection.

As the team clarified, the pilot is in normal physical and psychological condition.

It is currently unknown who will replace Perez at the British Grand Prix, which will be held from July 31 to August 2 at the Silverstone circuit.

Perez is the first F1 driver to be infected with CoViD-19. According to the racing director of the International Automobile Federation (FIA), the circle of those with whom the Mexican contacted is now being established.

Life previously reported that the Formula 1 stages in the USA, Brazil, Canada and Mexico were canceled.
