Vietnam has recorded the first death from coronavirus, Reuters reports.
A 70-year-old man is reported to have died from complications of the infection. Where he lived and whether he was diagnosed with a new strain is not specified.
Earlier, a new outbreak of COVID-19 was recorded in Vietnam. Four cases of coronavirus were identified, caused by a strain that had not previously been found in the republic. The authorities believe that it is more dangerous - patients are more likely to become seriously ill. Before that, there were no new cases in the country for three months.
The Russian embassy called on the Russians to stop traveling to the central regions of Vietnam. Meanwhile, the WHO does not consider the new strain to be particularly dangerous.
