Fire breaks out in South African parliament building

A fire broke out in the building of the South African parliament in Cape Town, Agence France-Presse (AFP) reports.

According to eyewitnesses, thick smoke is rising over the parliament.

“The roof is on fire, the National Assembly building is also on fire,” a city emergency spokesman said.

Firefighters have not yet succeeded in localizing the fire. No data on casualties have been reported.

The reason for the incident is currently being established.

Earlier, firefighters put out a large fire in a three-story residential building in the Sverdlovsk region.
