Filming of the second part of “Dune” may begin in the fall of 2022

Renowned Canadian cinematographer Denis Villeneuve plans to begin filming the second part of the Dune franchise no earlier than next fall. In his opinion, even this date is too early.

The director notes that most of the preparations for the work on the project have already been done. He stressed that filming a sequel is both good news and a certain burden.

“The good news is that most of the work has already been done in terms of design, casting, locations and script writing. So we are not starting from scratch. I will try to cope with this task, because it is important for me that the audience sees the second part as soon as possible, ”Villeneuve shared with The Hollywood Reporter.

He stressed that Dune 2 is not a sequel or even a new episode, but rather a continuation of an already set story. The director believes that the sooner the tape is released, the better it will be for the audience, who will have a fresh memory of the story from the first part. According to Warner Bros. Studios. and Legendary, scheduled to premiere in October 2023.

Earlier, Villeneuve said that he plans to make a full-fledged trilogy out of the sensational film. According to him, in order to honor the memory of the great writer Frank Herbert and his cycle “Dune”, it will be necessary to remove at least three tapes.
