At the MAKS-2021 air show, President Vladimir Putin was shown a new fifth-generation light tactical fighter. This is a single-engine combat aircraft with low visibility and high flight performance, the Rostec state corporation emphasized.
During the presentation of the fighter, the head of the United Aircraft Corporation Yuri Slyusar told the president about the high technical characteristics of the aircraft. “He stressed that LTS is a multifunctional platform of a new generation, which is distinguished by the ability to adapt to the needs of a particular customer, low operating costs and broad combat capabilities,” the corporation noted.
The debut flight, according to the presentation, the new fighter should go in 2023, in 2024-2025 it is planned to build prototypes of LTS. The first deliveries to customers are possible in 5.5 years.
The president was presented with a single-seat version of the aircraft, but the peculiarity of the development was, they told Putin, that due to minimal changes in the nose, the fighter could be made two-seat. Or, at the request of the customer, unmanned.
