Federation Council terminated the powers of Lvova-Belova

The Federation Council prematurely terminated the senatorial powers of Maria Lvova-Belova, who was appointed to the post of plenipotentiary under the President of the Russian Federation for the rights of the child, TASS reports.

Lvova-Belova was a member of the Federation Council Committee on Social Policy. Her mandate ended in September 2026.

Earlier, the decree of Russian President Vladimir Putin on the appointment of Lvova-Belova as children’s ombudsman was posted on the Kremlin’s website. Former child rights ombudsman Anna Kuznetsova was elected to the State Duma and holds the post of vice-speaker in charge of social issues.

Recall that the new children’s ombudsman of the Russian Federation, Maria Lvova-Belova, has five natural children and four adopted children. In addition, she is the guardian of several disabled young people with disabilities.

Lvova-Belova specializes in the social adaptation of orphans, as well as young people with disabilities and graduates of orphanages. Last year, she became one of the winners of the Leaders of Russia 2020 competition. In addition, she studied under the program for the development of the personnel management reserve of the Higher School of Public Administration of the Russian Presidential Academy of National Economy and Public Administration.
