Fatal age: Putin named the fateful events in the history of the country

The population of Russia, according to some estimates, could now be 500 million people, if the country managed to avoid the tragic events of the last century. In particular, we are talking about the 1917 revolution. Vladimir Putin said this on September 1 at a meeting with schoolchildren in Vladivostok. During the conversation with the children, the President also touched upon the situation in Afghanistan and complained about the “talkers” who deliberately distort history. In addition, the Russian leader shared with his students his memories of his father and his own childhood. On the same day, the head of state via video link took part in the opening of social facilities in Dagestan, and also met with representatives of large Russian companies, which promised to fight to create a safe digital environment for children.

Love of history

Participation in the Eastern Economic Forum was not the only purpose of Vladimir Putin’s trip to Vladivostok. On the eve of the opening of the EEF, the President visited the All-Russian Children’s Center “Ocean” – an institution of additional education and recreation for children of a year-round type.

Here the head of state met with schoolchildren of different ages. The conversation became part of the educational marathon “New Knowledge”, which takes place from 1 to 3 September. By the way, one of the lecturers this time should be the ex-employee of the American special services Edward Snowden.

Vladimir Putin’s lesson was primarily about the importance of studying history.

“And all this is extremely important, not only because it is interesting to see what and how it was before, it is important in order to understand the conditions in which we live today and what awaits us next,” the head of state emphasized.

The President, for example, recalled the need to carefully analyze the events of the 20th century, which twice led to the collapse of the country – after the 1917 revolution and the collapse of the USSR. At the same time, some experts believe that if this could be avoided, then the population of Russia could now reach 500 million people, said Vladimir Putin.

Studying the past is also important in order not to allow “talkers” to criticize the decision of the Soviet Union to fight for Leningrad during the Great Patriotic War, the president added. According to him, the documents of Nazi Germany clearly spell out the future of the Russian people, which was to be liquidated.

The President warned schoolchildren against a large amount of “information waste”, which is often presented as the ultimate truth.

Vladimir Putin did not ignore what is happening in Afghanistan, where, according to him, the United States has been trying for 20 years to “civilize” the local population. However, Washington failed to achieve a positive result.

“The result is zero, if not to say that everything went negative,” the president said. – The answer is actually very simple: if someone does something in relation to someone, then he must proceed from history, culture, philosophy, in the broadest sense of the life of these people, must approach their traditions with respect. You have to understand that it is impossible to impose anything from the outside.

Childhood dream

After Vladimir Putin’s speech, the children had the opportunity to ask questions to the president. For example, the head of state spoke about how he managed to realize his childhood dream and become a scout.

– But this is not the main thing. The main thing is that school education, education in the family, the environment – everything was aimed at dedicating oneself – you know, I have to speak pompously in this case – serving the Fatherland, – he noted.

The president also told the schoolchildren about real friendship, which, according to him, lies in the willingness to sacrifice oneself for the sake of a comrade. An example was the story of a father from the Leningrad front during the Great Patriotic War.

– My father was injured. But in order for him to remain alive, it was imperative to transport him to the hospital. The hospital is on the other side of the Neva River, and in order to get there, you need to risk your life. And, frankly, there were not many people who wanted to, because even at night, if you crawled to the other side of the Neva River on the ice – and it was winter – a person who would do it would be in mortal danger, because the searchlights could easily shine through, and any the target was easily destroyed. And it turned out that his neighbor in the house, in the apartment, and a friend fought next to him. He took it and dragged it, risking his own life. He dragged him to the other side of the Neva River, took him to the hospital, handed him over, hugged him and said: well, goodbye, you will live, and I come back, I go to die, – said Vladimir Putin.

He added that already in the 1960s, his father accidentally met a friend who was able to survive during the war.

However, some schoolchildren were worried about more global issues. For example, the youngest student Yegor Sotnich from Buryatia asked the president to save Baikal. A ten-year-old boy offered to allocate funds for a sewage treatment plant.

According to Vladimir Putin, the authorities are already actively engaged in the protection of the lake. However, he promised to check the financing of the program for the reconstruction of housing and communal services in Buryatia, which is aimed, among other things, at the preservation of Lake Baikal.

Meanwhile, Yegor also called on the head of state to subscribe to his YouTube channel.

– And what needs to be signed, Yegor? I didn’t understand what I should sign, ”Vladimir Putin reacted.

– YouTube channel, such a social network, YouTube, – Yegor insisted.

“Oh, okay, okay, okay,” said the president.

– Subscribe, – Egor asked again.

“Okay, okay, to your channel,” agreed Vladimir Putin.

Daria Shirovskaya from Kaluga raised the issue of the development of astronautics and science, talking about her acquaintance with the Russian physicist, President of the Kurchatov Institute, Mikhail Kovalchuk, and the American entrepreneur Elon Musk.

She complained that in some cities, schoolchildren do not have the opportunity to study in depth various scientific areas. The girl suggested creating a system of patronage of university teachers over scientific circles in the regions.

– We have just spoken with a resident of Yakutia, and I said that it is possible to organize the educational process using modern technologies and attract the best specialists in one direction or another, without going anywhere and getting an education on the spot, at a college or higher educational institution – said the president. – In exactly the same way, you can organize the implementation of the idea that you have just formulated.

Child protection

On the same day, Vladimir Putin took part in the ceremony of signing voluntary commitments by the founding companies of the Russian Alliance for the Protection of Children in the Digital Sphere. Alliance members are the owners of the largest Russian platforms, video hosting sites and search engines, including, for example, Yandex or Mail.Ru Group. Companies have taken on increased obligations to independently identify and restrict access to illegal information and content that could harm the health and development of children.

“Therefore, the content of the virtual, digital space is essential for the well-being and safety of our children. And in this area, they must be reliably protected. And it is obvious that the efforts of the state, only laws and only normative acts are no longer enough. It is fundamentally important that the society, the business itself, take an active position and understand their role and responsibility, – said Vladimir Putin.

According to him, it is important that the online space is filled with positive and educational material.

– Every adult today should feel responsible for every photo, every word. It is we who today are the creators of the information environment for our children. It is we who, by publishing “rating” news, stories, statements, form the worldview of children, ”Natalya Agra, director of the Institute for the Study of Childhood, Family and Education of the Russian Academy of Education, a member of the Public Chamber, told Izvestia.

The fact that companies take on increased obligations to protect children on the Internet means a lot to parents who are already intimidated by AUE groups and blue whales, said Irina Pankina, a member of the Russian Lawyers’ Association, in an interview with Izvestia.

Today, the posting and distribution of destructive content on Russian sites is mainly controlled by supervisory agencies. Any user can file an online complaint with Roskomnadzor or contact the Center for Monitoring the Youth Environment of Rosmolodezh with a request to block certain sources, the expert explained.

– Naturally, pre-trial blocking tools are not enough to protect children from harmful content, for example, scenes of violence, so this approach from online platforms and search engines will be the most effective. If only because they can react to threats more quickly, – summed up Irina Pankina.

Also, on September 1, the President took part by video link in the opening ceremony of social facilities in Dagestan. According to a government order, the Ministry of Defense is constructing 73 buildings for preschool and school education in the region. We are talking about 16 schools, 20 kindergartens and 37 nurseries. Today, the military handed over 36 facilities to the region. The president finished his work schedule on Wednesday with a meeting with the Governor of the Primorsky Territory, Oleg Kozhemyako.

On September 1, a new academic year began in all Russian schools. The decision on how to hold celebrations in a pandemic was taken independently by each educational institution, further training will take place in full-time format in compliance with all the necessary sanitary and epidemiological requirements.
