The Association of Producers and Suppliers of Food Products “Rusprodsoyuz” asked the FAS to check the growth in the cost of plastic packaging, which reached 10-15%, TASS reports with reference to the letter of the association.
The document notes that one of the main factors affecting the cost of goods is the price of packaging. And since 2020, it has increased by 10-15% due to the fact that the cost of raw materials has increased. A ton of polymer granules in January 2021 cost 115 thousand rubles against 78 thousand rubles in June. At the same time, the authors of the letter note, the raw materials for the production of plastic packaging are produced in Russia, which means that its cost should not depend on the exchange rate of foreign currencies. In connection with this situation, Rusprodsoyuz appealed to the FAS RF.
According to the deputy chairman of the board of the organization Dmitry Leonov, in order to reduce the cost of packaging, it is necessary to “remove customs duties and restore competition in the market between domestic and international manufacturers, or oblige packaging manufacturers to equalize external and internal prices.”
Earlier it was reported that since the beginning of February, consumer prices in the country jumped by 0.4%, since the beginning of the year – by 1.1%. Inflation in Russia from 9 to 15 February 2021 was 0.2%. Chicken meat, margarine, frozen fish, as well as fruits and vegetables rose in price.
