Earlier, on October 1, Gazprom extended the contract with Moldova for the supply of gas for a month. Later, on October 6, Moldovagaz reported that the consumption of the resource in the country temporarily exceeds the supply of fuel from Russia, which may lead to problems with the supply of electricity. Last week, on October 13, the Moldovan government introduced an “alarm regime” due to the situation in the gas sector, and on October 22, an emergency regime began to operate in the country due to the situation in the energy sector. It will last 30 days until November 20.
“Without a contract with Gazprom, it’s just not serious to talk about“ settling ”the energy crisis. It’s another matter that the country’s top leadership is interested in the formation of mutually beneficial cooperation between Moldova and the Russian Federation, without this a normal and calm solution is impossible, without this it is impossible to solve other threats from the point of view of the economy, ”commented Laryushina.
She explained that the cause of the current crisis is the accumulation of mistakes of all the previous authorities, which did not seek to solve the problems in the country. Back in 1999, Moldova experienced a similar situation, when the causes of the crisis were corruption, ignorance and irresponsibility of the government. For 20 years, Chisinau has not made an attempt to rectify the situation and is now trying to “sort out” the current crisis in a hurry.
“A lot depends on the Moldovan side, which is forced to conduct negotiations in extremely unfavorable conditions, which the authorities themselves allowed. Most likely, we are facing difficult times, we will not have easy decisions, ”the expert noted.
