Figure skater Evgeni Plushenko won tens of millions.
The athlete managed to prove that he suffered for his patriotism and devotion to the country, and therefore he needs money to develop and popularize ice sports.
The show of the honored figure skater “Union of Champions” became the winner in the competition and received a grant of 50 million rubles from the Presidential Fund for Cultural Initiatives.
With this money, Plushenko and his team promise to perform in seven cities of Russia: Kemerovo, Ryazan, Krasnodar, Sochi, Gubkin, Moscow and Nizhny Novgorod, according to the official website of the fund.
It is explained that the grant is intended to “inspire children, especially those from disadvantaged and low-income families, orphanages to play sports.”
And Plushenko’s show became the winner in the special competition because “all dance compositions are performed by athletes to patriotic songs and music by Russian composers, which becomes an additional incentive for the development of patriotism among the audience of the project.”
As part of the Union of Champions, such figure skating stars as Adelina Sotnikova, Alexandra Trusova, Elizaveta Tuktamysheva, Alena Kostornaya and many others take to the ice.
It is worth noting that the money is also needed in order to support the athletes themselves, who during the period of sanctions are deprived of the opportunity to perform at foreign venues.
In St. Petersburg, Plushenko’s ice show was remembered for a terrible fall right during the performance of figure skater Evgeny Semenenko, who was hospitalized with a concussion.
