European Parliament calls for tougher sanctions against Minsk

The head of the European People’s Party faction in the European Parliament, Manfred Weber, demands tougher sanctions against President of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko. He believes that this is a necessary response due to the aggravation of the migration crisis on the Polish-Belarusian border.

On his Twitter page, Weber wrote that the reaction to Lukashenka’s actions must be unified and decisive. He believes that the EU states in the east need quick help. Weber also called for tougher sanctions against the entourage of the President of Belarus.

Over 2 thousand migrants gathered at the border of Poland and Belarus the night before. Foreigners said they want to get into the European Union. It is clarified that illegal immigrants did not try to cross the border by force. The night from 8 to 9 November passed there calmly and without incident.
