The head of the European Commission (EC) Ursula von der Leyen left the building of the European Council, which was attended by the leaders of the 27 EU countries, who participated in the EU summit, in connection with suspected coronavirus infection. She wrote about this on Twitter.
“I was just informed that this morning [результат теста] one of my office staff tested positive for COVID-19. My [тест] gave a negative result. However, as a precautionary measure, I immediately leave the European Council to go into self-isolation, ”reads the tweet.
By the time this message appeared, the summit was already underway. Thus, the head of the EC spent about two hours in the building, writes TASS. At the same time, according to representatives of the EU Council, very tough measures are being taken at the summit to prevent the spread of coronavirus.
The main themes of the two-day EU summit, which opened today in Brussels, are the fight against the COVID-19 pandemic and Brexit.
