As part of an informal meeting on March 10-11, EU leaders plan to study issues of strengthening defense and the economy. This was reported by TASS with reference to a letter from the President of the European Council Charles Michel.
He stated that he would also like to focus the attention of the EU countries on the topic of reducing the community’s dependence on oil, gas and coal from the Russian Federation. At the same time, the situation in Ukraine will be the main issue of the meeting. However, there is no item on its membership on the agenda. It is noted that the preamble only repeats the phrase that Ukraine is part of the European family.
Earlier, EU High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy Josep Borrell said that the EU has no plans to ban oil and gas imports from Russia.
