Elizabeth II signs UK-EU future relations bill

Queen Elizabeth II of Great Britain issued the so-called royal assent to the bill on the future relations of the United Kingdom and the European Union, which means the entry into force of the bill, reports TASS.

This was announced on December 31 by the speaker of the House of Commons of the British Parliament Lindsay Hoyle.

Thus, the UK has completed, for its part, the process of ratifying the agreement on trade and cooperation with the EU, which will determine the terms of relations between London and Brussels from January 1.

Note that on New Year’s Eve, the so-called transition period will cease to operate for countries. The United Kingdom will leave the EU single market and customs union.

Earlier, British Prime Minister Boris Johnson said that at the moment the country is opening a new page in its history by concluding an agreement on the format of future relations with the European Union.
